Trading Applications Support Engineer

Job description:
In this role, your primary responsibility will be level 2 support within a financial software organization. You will monitor and support electronic trading applications and infrastructure. The work includes deploying and managing business critical software, issue tracking and resolution, and tool buildnig. You will work with clients and traders investigate system and trading issues.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Monitoring electronic trading systems and server side software.
    Identifying and troubleshooting issues impacting live trading.
  • Researching order history and algo performance. Liaising with clients, traders, vendors and execution venues.
  • Supporting application releases, from development, testing and deployment into production.
  • Working with business, software developers and quality control teams to resolve and document issues.
    Creating and maintaining a knowledge base, support tools, and standard procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 years IT support experience in an electronic trading environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong experience in UNIX/LINUX environments. Must be comfortable using standard LINUX utilities to debug, trace, and problem-solve.
  • Very strong troubleshooting, debugging, and analysis skills.
  • Previous experience with TCP/IP networking.
  • Knowledge of version and revision control practices and procedures.

Additional Skills and Experience

  • Understanding of FIX protocol
  • Experience with and understanding of databases (Oracle, MySQL).
  • Some Perl, Ruby and/or other scripting experience.
  • Experience with basic trading algorithms.
